Providencia
Providencia is a favorite neighborhood for travelers because it has everything: plenty of transportation options, restaurants, great hotels, amazing apartments, lots of charming cafés, currency exchange offices, the Costanera Center Mall and Observation Deck, Sky Costanera, the famous Giratório restaurant, and many other attractions you discover while strolling through its streets.
Many people enjoy staying in apartments for the authentic city experience – shopping for breakfast and living like a local. However, the area also offers an excellent variety of hotels.
Bellavista
The most bohemian part of the city, full of nightlife, bars, restaurants, and nightclubs.
If you love nightlife and want to go out and return to your hotel without worrying about a taxi or Uber, Bellavista is a good choice.
At its base is Cerro San Cristóbal and one of Pablo Neruda’s museum houses, La Chascona. The neighborhood also boasts a diverse gastronomic scene. However, in recent years, following protests and the pandemic, Bellavista has become less safe. Stay alert and avoid being too distracted.
Las Condes and Vitacura
Modern, safe, and clean, Las Condes is peaceful on weekends and features corporate buildings, well-dressed executives on its streets, and a chic urban vibe – almost like New York.
It’s ideal for those seeking a mix of luxury and tranquility. While the neighborhood is excellent, some areas of Las Condes are far from the metro, requiring taxis or rideshare apps to reach other parts of the city.
It’s close to the Parque Arauco and Alto Las Condes malls, making it perfect for shopping enthusiasts. The area also has excellent hotels, particularly near Parque Araucano and Metro Manquehue.
The neighboring Vitacura district also offers luxurious accommodations and high-end dining options.
Lastarria
Charming. Beautiful. A mix of modern and historical. Lastarria is essentially one main street but is surrounded by attractions like Cerro Santa Lucía, the Museo de Bellas Artes, Parque Forestal, and the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center.
It’s full of independent designer shops, an old art film cinema, trendy cafés, and upscale restaurants. It has a modern and artsy vibe. The area is also home to MAVI, the Museum of Visual Arts, which is worth a visit.
